How many times have you watched something on the go? From traveling to work or just taking some time off in the break room, watching videos on your mobile device is more common now more than ever.
With larger smartphone screens like the iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone 7 Plus, for example, it is easier to watch and binge on content from YouTube or YouTube Red as well as appified streaming sites like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon as they provide entertainment on the go not only for you but also for your audience.
Key takeaway: Be where your audience is online. Do your research. If most of your audience is on the go and prefer to watch videos over reading blog posts, invest in video production. Make videos for YouTube, Vimeo, or you can host them on your own website. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat all have one thing in common. They all provide video. Video especially online video thrives off social media.
For example, you can share your YouTube videos to Facebook, Twitter and Google+ right as you publish it. Or if you are watching a YouTube video, you can share it to even more social platforms outside of just Facebook and Twitter, i.e. Reddit and Tumblr. You can host your videos directly onto Facebook for better targeted marketing—making sure that the people you want watch your content. You can use Instagram and Snapchat stories to create a behind the scenes series about your brand or you can provide them with new insight about your events, updates in your industry, etc.
Our world is getting smaller with the aid of social media and our mobile devices. For example:
